Gun makers not affected by quake
Manufacturers are located well north of quake, which hit central Italy

A company that exhibited imported handmade Italian guns during the Olds Gun and Antiques show last Saturday says an earthquake that hit Italy Aug. 23 did not affect their manufacturers.

“The ones that we deal with weren’t (affected) in the sense that they weren’t in an area that was hit by the quake,” says Will Bilozir of Bilozir Fine Guns.

“They’re far north of the central area that got hit. But of course, they would maybe have friends or family in that area that would have been affected.”

However, Bilozir also notes he has been unable to contact his business partners over there because he says Italians basically go on vacation during August.

“Most businesses and industries, they’re closed for the whole month of August so no one’s in the office right now for us to talk to and the personal emails tend to languish,” he says.

“So I haven’t got any direct information from them about this earthquake but I do know where they’re located and they’re probably 400 miles north of where the earthquake was.

“It would be like if somebody heard about an earthquake in Nova Scotia, they wouldn’t be too worried about us here.”
