NICE SHOT / BISMUTH:

1997 regulations require that Canadian Waterfowl Hunters only shoot with bismuth, tungsten or steel shot when hunting waterfowl.

This is to alleviate a threat to the environment from an accumulation of lead in marshes and streams.

Bismuth is being replaced. - Announcing the arrival of "NICE SHOT™" in Canada.

Problems with the supply of Bismuth shot has led us to finding an alternative. For those with older guns that cannot use steel shot or the hard-steel tungsten alternative, the solution for your non-toxic shot for water fowling is here.

Nice Shot ™ is practically the same weight as lead (10.2gm/cc), is only slightly harder (Brinnel 16), and has the major advantage of being a suitable substitute for lead in loading data. If you have a favorite duck or goose load that you used before the restriction on lead shot, you can now revive it by replacing the lead shot with Nice Shot™, using the same recipe. Please follow all reloading recipes carefully, and only substitute the metal (using he same weight) when making a Nice Shot™ load.

Nice Shot™ is available in all major sizes, including #Bb, #2, #4, #5, #6 & #7.5. Nice Shot™ is sold by the kilogram (enough for 34 standard 12ga loads), and is priced at $80.64 / kg. A good supply of Nice Shot™ is in stock now so get your order in soon, before stocks are depleted and selection becomes more limited.

We are the Canadian distributor for Nice Shot™

Preliminary testing by Hodgdon Powder company have indicated that NICE SHOT cannot be substituted for any lead load as first thought. Findings indicate that to be safe with loading Nice Shot using a lead load recipe, one must use a load that is 1500 psi below the maximum allowable for a particular gauge.  For example: only 12ga lead loads under 10,500psi can be used when substituting nice shot for the same weight of lead shot.
